Advances in Marine Finfish Hatchery Technology (Master Class)
About the Project There have been a number of workshops in Australia that have prioritised research and development of live feed and hatchery technologies. This class took the process one step further with a series of industry and research hatchery presentations and a revised hatchery plan for strategic research direction. Project Objectives 1. Communicate recent advances in hatchery technology to industry. 2. Increase communication within and between industry and research hatchery operators. 3. Clarify research and development priorities in marine fish hatcheries. 4. Identify technology transfer and training needs of industry. ________________________________________________ |

Latest Trends in Seafood Packaging (Master Class)
About the Project The "Latest trends in packaging technology" Master Class was held during December 2008 to a captive audience of 150 people in New South Wales, South Australia and Western Australia. The class covered the latest trends in seafood packing technologies; freezing/chilling technologies; traceability and new product development. Technical experts prepared the class such as Mr Bernard Leveau of Multivac who highlighted packaging trends in Europe and the USA. Project Objectives 1. Seafood CRC Professional Diploma (Entrepreneurship)
About the Project The over-arching purpose of this program is to raise industry members’ awareness of the importance of entrepreneurship and innovation in the seafood industry, and to set in place a culture of innovation in the seafood industry. Short to medium term outcomes of the program will be to bring to the point of fruition a series of innovative projects championed by the participants in the program. Project Objectives 1. Increase the productivity of the seafood industry while simultaneously maintaining or increasing the sustainability of the industry and the natural environment. 2. Create opportunities for Industry (especially) and research participants to expand their knowledge and to encourage further education opportunities. 3. Provide knowledge and support that enables individuals to take innovative concepts right through an educational process that will expand their horizons as to what could be achieved. Post Doctoral Research Scientist Training Day
About the Project The CRC held a training workshop just for the CRC Post Doctoral Research Scientists on the 12th December 2008. The aim of the training was for the Post Docs to get to know each other, to learn about the background of the CRC and what the CRC is expecting from each scientist. The training focused heavily on how to develop research project proposals in the CRC. Project Objectives 1. The CRC Post Doctoral Research Scientists learn more about the CRC and its processes. 2. CRC Post Doctoral Research Scientists have more confidence in developing and managing projects _________________________________________________
